The EBC3 is a double diode triode receiving valve. It would be used as detector and AGC detector as well as first audio amplifier stage in a superhet receiver.
This exhibit is of continental manufacture and it was made for the German military, the Wehrmacht.
The reverse of the envelope carries the German eagle and the Wehrmacht name that identifies it with the military.
The classic envelope is 31 mm in diameter and, excluding the Ct8 base pins, is 85 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet & 1043. Type EBC3 was first introduced in 1938. See also 1938 adverts.
