The PY800 was one of the last rectifiers of its type to be developed and is based on the PY81 from 1952. It was specifically built as an efficiency diode for television line scan in sets using 110° deflection angle tubes.
We believe Willow Vale to be a distributor and the interesting thing about this exhibit is the plain date stamp of April 1976.
The inner surface of the anode is bent out at the ends so as to include the extra width in the envelope.
The thin glass tube envelope is 20 mm in diameter and, excluding the B9A base pins, is 75 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet & 1040. Type PY800 was first introduced in 1961. See also 1961 adverts.
