The DY86 is a television EHT rectifier. It was designed to have its heater supply produced by an overwind on the line output transformer. The 18,000 Volt rating places this as a rectifier for medium sized monochrome televisions.
The lower shield in this valve is less obscuring than in the Mullard DY86.
Made in the UK.
The lower screen and anode bell. The coated cathode is just visible centred within the anode.
The thin glass tube envelope is 20 mm in diameter, and excluding the B9A base pins is 65 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet & 1040 Type DY86 was first introduced in 1955. See also 1955 adverts.
