This VT-244 American government valve is also marked on the envelope, near the base, with the commercial 5U4G designation, but the etched lettering is hard to see.
The 5U4G rectifier delivers 100 Watts of DC power, a reasonable size valve. It would be used for all types of medium power equipment.
The identical anode sections have oxide coated ribbon filaments in the form of an inverted within.
A close-up of the bottom of one anode showing the ribbon filament and the way the folded anode sheet is stitched together.
The valve has a maximum diameter of 51 mm and length excluding the IO base pins, is 115 mm.
