The American service code VT-118 is the commercial 832 dual transmitting tetrode. The heater has a centre tap to allow for 6.3 or 12.6 Volt working.
The design the American type with two separate valves sealed into the single element, contrast this with QQE03-20 which is the classic European pattern. In use the American valves require external neutralisation capacitors whereas the European type has the capacitors built-in.
Note that the screen grid voltage should not exceed 200 Volts.
The commercial Type designation and Made in USA.
The National Union logo. The twin beam tetrodes share a common screen grid and have no central screen between them.
Here the construction can be seen: the cathode has rounded ends and a flat working face, the control grid is wound on copper supports.
The purpose built base has springs to hold the valve above the central bulge. This extra grip would be useful in aircraft transmitters.
The underside of the ceramic base and the outer aluminium shell.
The wide glass tube envelope is 51 mm in diameter, and excluding the B7A base pins is 71 mm tall.
