The 2B22 is a planar diode, describer by GE as a half wave rectifier. Planar construction and multiple cathode cathode connections usually denotes operation at RF.
The 2B22 was aimed at signal rectification at up to 1.5 GHz and in 1945 that probably indicated radar application. It was also useful as a transmit/receive switch.
Made in USA and manufacturers codes.
The gap between the raised copper cathode and the cylindrical anode is small to minimise the transit time effects at microwave frequencies.
The anode connection.
The planar envelope is 26 mm in diameter, and excluding the IO base pins is 33 mm tall.
