The C1C was the Philips C1 fitted with a B4 base. It is a barretter current stabiliser where the active component is an iron wire in a hydrogen atmosphere. The glass clearly says Made in Holland.Barretters were a continental invention, being used by the Germans to control valve filament currents during WWI.
