The 26AQ8 is the American Type designation for a valve known in Europe as the UCC85. The design purpose is for the front end of a Band II VHF FM radio tuner in receivers for AC or DC mains input - ie no mains transformer.The 26AQ8 is the 100 mA heater version of the ECC85 VHF double triode, the two sections function as 1. RF amplifier and 2. local oscillator.
The triode sections are mounted side by side and are separated by the electrostatic screen that extends above and below the mica discs.The thin glass tube envelope is 21 mm in diameter and, excluding the B9A base pins, is 48 mm tall.References: Data-sheet & 1040.
