The DY86 is a television EHT rectifier from 1956. It was designed to have its heater supply produced by an overwind on the line output transformer. The 18,000 Volt rating places this as a rectifier for medium sized monochrome televisions.
The bell anode within a clear envelope. This version appears to be un-gettered. The other Pinnacle DY86/7 is both gettered and constructed to provide a shield against the release of X-rays.
The cathode is oxide coated and it can be seen within the anode. One side of the heater is connected to the cathode.
The thin glass tube envelope is 21 mm in diameter, and excluding the B9A base pins is 65 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet & 1040 Type DY86/87 was first introduced in 1955. See also 1955 adverts.
