The EZ40 full wave rectifier offers a respectable output current of 90 mA, sufficient for most domestic apparatus. The Mullard EZ40 is much taller and has anodes stacked vertically. The maximum reservoir capacitor, a measure of the peak current rating, was 50 µF. The minimum effective series resistance is 300 Ohms. This EZ40 uses anodes with long side arms one anode arms down and the other at right angles with arms up. The locating pip is to the left and the groove between the hard glass base and the soft glass envelope is typical of Philips production.
A clear view of the anodes. The rod on the left holds the getter holder and is also the connecting point for the top anode. The thin glass tube envelope is 20 mm in diameter and, excluding the B8A base pins, is 58 mm tall.References: Data-sheet & 1040. Type EZ40 was first introduced in 1954. See also 1954 adverts. |
