The CV45 voltage stabiliser has a maximum current output of 75 mA. This is above the normal range and was, therefore, designed to supply a stabilised voltage directly rather than act as a reference in a stabiliser power supply with a series pass valve.
The striking voltage was 135 volts. Pin 4 is a priming anode to strike the discharge.

The balloon envelope is 50 mm in diameter, and excluding the B4 base pins is 107 mm tall.
