Extras ▼

The AR8 is a pre CV designation for a receiving valve to an UK Army specification. Commercially this would be the Mazda HL23DD.
This battery double diode triode has a very low filament consumption making it ideal for portable equipment especially man-portable back pack radios.
Design use: detection, AGC detection and first audio amplification in superhet receivers. The MO (Mazda Octal) base dates it as 1938 or after.
The reverse is plain except for the up arrow and letter V.
The box has both the AR8 and the CV1306 as well as the old stores code of ZA/7022.
The classic envelope is 32 mm in diameter and, excluding the MO base pins, is 80 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet, 1040 & 1043. Type AR8 was first introduced in 1938. See also 1938 adverts.
