The CV1052 UK service valve is equivalent to an EL32 audio output pentode. The power is small at 3.6 Watts but more than adequate for single ended audio output stages in receivers. However, they were used in large numbers in telephone repeater amplifiers.
The stamp on the base shell for GPO batch testing shows that this exhibit was intended for repeater service.
The gettering hides the internal structure. For details see EL32.
The wide glass envelope is 29 mm in diameter and, excluding the IO base pins, is 95 mm tall.
