The VR83, is a vari-μ HF metallised pentode used by the RAF for radio receivers. The prototypes were the 210VPT and VP21. After 1941 with the advent of the Common Valve register it became the CV1083. Other pre-CV names were - ARP13 for the Army and NR41 for the Admiralty. The CV specifications made Government procurement more efficient.
The service arrow. The screw top cap dates this to the early 1930s.
The classic envelope is 45 mm in diameter and, excluding the B7 base pins, is 73 mm tall.
