The NR46 is the UK Navy specification for the D41 pair of signal diodes.
The diodes share a common cathode and the use was in superhet receivers for both signal detection and AGC rectification.
The Z identifies the maker as MO Valve Company, Hammersmith.
With the introduction of the Common Valve specifications in 1941 the NR46 became the CV1170.
The reverse has the commercial D41 Type designation as well Made and Patented in England.
The classic envelope is 36 mm in diameter and, excluding the B5 base pins, is 79 mm tall.
