The CV1426 (commercially the EK2) is an octode frequency changer.
The Philips Ct8 base proved unpopular with UK manufacturers and Mullard replaced this design with the EK32. This is functionally identical to the EK2 but on an IO base.
There are also some differences in anode voltage and current between the designs.
The octode has a single electron stream for both oscillator and mixer. The signal would be coupled into the valve via g4 on the top cap.
The gold paint and the D under the Type designation indicate a Mullard product. The D should identify the maker as Mullard Radio Valve Co., Mitcham.
The reverse is plain paint.
The classic envelope is 30 mm in diameter and, excluding the Ct8 base pins, is 85 mm tall.
