The GL5557 is an industrial thyratron with a direct equivalent of the PL17. More details are to be found on the attached data-sheet.

Uses include controller AC to DC rectification and AC motor speed control.

The base pins, GE logo and Made in USA.

The anode is fixed to the pinch stem with a screw-on collar.

The gas reservoir to the side of the stem.

The classic envelope is  mm in diameter and excluding the UX4 base pins, is  mm tall.
