This Brimar DK96 is labelled as of Foreign origin.
From the early 1960s battery valve radios lost out to the imported transistor radio. In 1964 a six transistor miniature radio operating on a PP3 battery could be purchased for little more than a 90 Volt HT battery.
The DK96 dry battery frequency changer is from the later range of very low filament consumption valves.
The filament tension spring at the top and the single strand oxide coated filament.
The thin glass tube envelope is 18 mm in diameter and, excluding the B7G base pins, is 46 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet & 1040. Type DK96 was first introduced in 1953. See also 1953 adverts.
