The 6SN7W is an American glass tubular version of the mid 1930s metal double triode valve. The data-sheet makes it clear that this a premium quality version of the 6SN7GT designed for use where shock and vibration are a factor such as in airborne military equipment. The design probably dates from the mid to late 1940's but the glass foot construction is later. The construction uses a glass disc base and no pinch. This would assist in making a rugged version. The wide glass tube envelope is 28 mm in diameter and excluding the IO base pin length, stands 69 mm high.Reference: Data-sheet. Type 6SN7WGT was first introduced in 1956. See also 1956 adverts. |
