The 30FL2 is a television valve in a miniature envelope, the 6FL2 is identical except for the heater, which is 6.3 V at 0.5 A.The triode, low power beam tetrode was designed as line time base and sync separator. The 30FL2 was used in the time base circuitry of the once very common Thorn 1500 mono television chassis. Models using this chassis included sets sold under the names of Ferguson, Ultra, Radio Rentals et al. In the Thorn 1500 chassis the 30FL2 triode section was used in blocking oscillator configuration as the line oscillator and the beam tetrode as the sync pulse separator. It is believed that the 30FL2 is an enhanced version of the 30FL1. Thanks to Simon Pearson for additional data on the 30FL1 and 30FL2.
The open end of the triode on the left with the pentode mounted at right angles to it on the right. The glass proclaims that this was made in England. The thin glass tube envelope is 20 mm in diameter and, excluding the B9A base pins, is 49 mm tall.References: Data-sheet & private communication. Type 30FL2 was first introduced in 1970. See also 1970 adverts. |
