The PCC89 is a high gain, Band III VHF, frame grid double triode for domestic television receivers.
This exhibit carries the later stylised logo that was introduced in 1970.
The two sections are separated by an electrostatic screen. The anodes have a small active area at the base of the depression. The rest of the anode is present to dissipate the heat generated.
A close view showing the screening.
The thin glass tube envelope is 20 mm in diameter, and excluding the B9A base pins, is 48 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet & 1040. Type PCC89 was first introduced in 1959. See also 1959 adverts.
