The RCA 502A is a gas filled tetrode thyratron. It is designated for service as a relay or as a a grid controlled rectifier. The peak current at one Amp is ten times the average current rating, as much as for a normal rectifier.The best date we have so far is from the revised data-sheet.
The envelope paint is gloss and the print is orange. The thin metal tube envelope is 25 mm in diameter, and excluding the IO base pins is 51 mm tall.Reference: Data-sheet. Type 502A was first introduced in 1948. See also 1948 adverts. |
