The CV66 is an all glass valve in an aluminium screening can, was designed as an RF amplifier operating in grounded grid configuration. The CV66 was originally named RL37 and later made available commercially as the EC54. The EC54 was not listed in the 1949 Mullard data book, all-glass technique had made it obsolete.
The can has been exposed to damp and patches of white corrosion can be seen.
The multiple connection points are to reduce lead inductance, and thereby increase the useful operating frequency.
The wide glass tube envelope is 32 mm in diameter and, excluding the B9G base pins, is 60 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet, 1043 & 4034. Type CV66 was first introduced in 1946. See also 1946 adverts.
