The 6FV8A was designed for VHF TV tuners. The triode being the local oscillator and the pentode (made as a beam tetrode) acting as the mixer to IF.Etched into the glass are two Type designations the 6FV8A and also 6BR8A the latter having slightly different characteristics when first relaesed.
