The 6AR6 is a beam tetrode. The design features allow for high peak currents and anode voltages within the dissipation limits. The characteristics required in CRT horizontal timebases.
The Tung-Sol name and Made in USA.
The heater is folded so as to pass through the cathode six times. The base of the copper control grid sits outside the rounded ends of the cathode.
For cooling the control grid to prevent the thermal emission of electrons is a U shaped heat sink above the top mica.
The wide glass tube envelope is 35 mm in diameter and, excluding the IO base pins, is 74 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet. Type 6AR6 was first introduced in 1949. See also 1949 adverts.
