The CV1944 is a triode hexode frequency changer. The prototype was the 6K8G and the CV1944 is identical.
Looking at the top of the envelope the triode anode supports are on the right. The two slots in the mica point to the flat cathode and the control grid. The top cap connects to the signal grid and the hexode anode supports are on the left. A diagram of the electrode arrangement of the 6K8 can be found here.
The classic envelope is 38 mm in diameter and, excluding the IO base pins, is 97 mm tall.
Reference: Data-sheet. Type CV1944 was first introduced in 1938. See also 1938 adverts.
