The CV5144 (commercially the PCL83) is a television triode output pentode. It is used as a frame timebase and frame output stage or audio output stage if required.
It produces enough audio output power for an average domestic environment and was made from the early 1950s.
The overprinting is in a font much used by Mullard.
The two electrode systems are side by side with the pentode on the right. The outer two wire grids can be clearly seen.
The suppressor grid is wound on copper supports. The control grid supports are topped with a heat radiating fin. The cathode is flattened in the working direction towards the anode.
The small triode with side flanges for extra area and fixing tabs.
The thin glass tube envelope is 20 mm in diameter and, excluding the B9A base pins, is 47 mm tall.
