The 6L6G is is a larger more powerful audio beam tetrode than the 6V6 receiver type. This was used for audio amplifiers and modulators for small Amplitude Modulated transmitters.
The 6L6 in the large metal envelope then became the 6L6G with a classic glass envelope. This GT version still retains the pinch construction.
Inside the anode can be seen the control grid winding and the grey beam plates.
The anode is stitched together and held tight to the glass with the side mica pieces.
The wide glass tube envelope is 34 mm in diameter and, excluding the IO base pins, is 92 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet, 1040 & 1043. Type 6L6G was first introduced in 1936. See also 1936 adverts.
