The 12SA7GT is a pentagrid converter for use as a mixer oscillator in superhet receivers. The design is quoted by RCA as optimised to increase stability.
The top mica shows the grid supports and through the slots the wire grids can be seen.
The wide glass tube envelope is 29 mm in diameter, and excluding the IO base pins is 65 mm tall.
