The 6L18 is an amplifier triode. It has a low impedance and was used as a frame timebase amplifier. Our other other 6L18 has a different form of construction.
The 6L18 was used in the 1948 Murphy television receiver V114 as a local oscillator.
The electrode assembly is better seen in this second picture.
The thin glass tube envelope is 20 mm in diameter and, excluding the B8A base pins, is 57 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet & 1040. Type 6L18 was first introduced in 1948. See also 1948 adverts.
