The CV5008 is equivalent to the 6080WA is a series pass valve much used in professional equipment. The 6080 family had four variants 6080, 6080WA, 6080WB and 6080WC.The basic 6080 has single mica discs. For a longer life when subjected to vibration the mica discs are doubled as in this case. This is the nature of the speciality quality W suffix.
The construction of each triode consists of a central flat cathode coated both sides, gold plated grid - to minimise electron emission and an anode made as two open rectangular boxes strapped together at the top. When worked hard these valves run very hot.The wide glass tube envelope is 38 mm in diameter and, excluding the base pins, is 85 mm tall.
