This PL83 was made in the UK by Mullard. It was designed as a sensitive video amplifier valve for television receivers.
This exhibit carries the later mullard logo and was not made in the UK. It looks to be unused unlike our other Mullard PL83.
A side view shows the grid wires and grid supports through the hole in the anode. The control grid and screen grid wires can be seen clearly, the suppressor grid less so.
The thin glass tube envelope is 20 mm in diameter and, excluding the B9A base pins, is 67 mm tall.
References: Datasheet & 1040. Type PL83 was first introduced in 1951.
