The NR51 is Admiralty pattern 1166 and is a screened vari-μ HF pentode. This exhibit was made by M-OV but the basic design is that of the Mullard VP4A. When the unified purchase of UK Government valves was introduced in 1941 the valve was renamed the CV1172.
The reverse carries no additional identification.
The classic envelope is 44 mm in diameter and, excluding the B7 base pins, is 115 mm tall.
