The CV2195 is a selected CV138 where the selection is based on the mutual conductance in a given test set-up as detailed in the data sheet. The CV2195 is yet another variation on the EF91 theme. Which was (almost) the universal amplifier pentode of the early post war era, many manufacturers made versions of this standard valve. The CV2195 is a high gain, high impedance, sharp cut-off, screened pentode. It could be used from AF to VHF up to about 200 MHz and was found in large numbers in most types of electronic equipment. In radio it was used for RF and IF amplification, for oscillators and frequency multipliers. The KB/D identifies this valve as being made to specification K1001 or K1006, the B denotes qualification by a UK authority and the D identifies the maker as Mullard Radio Valve Co., Mitcham.
Through the blue coating can be seen that the anode consists of a pair of plates joined by a strap. The suppressor grid is clear to see and the screen grid less so. At full size the image reveals the control grid as well.
A closer view. The thin glass tube envelope is 18 mm in diameter and, excluding the B7G base pins, is 46 mm tall.References: Data-sheet & 1040 Type CV2195 was first introduced in 1956. See also 1956 adverts. |
