BVA valves were a range of types offered for wartime civilian radio receivers and in the spirit of unity was a 'utility' device lacking in commercial branding. The BVA243 is an EF39 from Ferranti. It is a variable-mu RF pentode for use as a controlled RF or IF amplifier. The frequency range of operation would be up to 30 MHz.The reverse is plain zinc paint. Under the paint the silvery gettering can be seen within the glass. The classic envelope is 30 mm in diameter and excluding the IO base pins it is 85 mm long.References: Data-sheet, 1040 & 1043. Type BVA243 was first introduced in 1939. See also 1939 adverts. |
