The ECH35 is a typical triode hexode frequency changer or mixer for broadcast applications. The exhibit has the Mullard red paint external metalisation and for maximum isolation of the signal input and output circuits the hexode control grid is taken to the top cap.
The CCH35 and ECH35 differ only in heater ratings. The CCH35 is for series heater connection on a 0.2 A chain across the mains. The ECH35 is for parallel heaters only.
This exhibit earns a place in the museum because the metalising is flaking off and the insides can be seen. The hexode is at the top and in this image the grids are seen across the width of the image. The hexode control grid connects to the top cap and thus there are no connections to the lower ends of this grid. The triode is below the middle mica and the grid axis is at right angles to the hexode. The anode has wide side flanges and the control grid is wound on copper supports.
The classic envelope is 35 mm in diameter and, excluding the IO base pins, is 95 mm tall.
