The A2293 triode when fitted with flying leads is called the CV4038.
It is a low impedance triode with an anode dissipation of 15 Watts designed as a series pass element in stabilised power supplies.
The anode with central flange to add additional heat radiating capacity. 15 Watts is a significant dissipation for a small B9A based valve.
The GEC paper brand label.
Few details are obvious when looking through the glass but the copper grid support can be seen.
The thin glass tube envelope is 20 mm in diameter and, excluding the B9A base pins, is 62 mm tall.
