The L63 is an octal based amplifier triode. It is a low impedance device and although designed as a general purpose valve it is often used at audio frequencies.
This exhibit has been included as the internal coating is rather thin and some view of the inside is possible.
The M-OV ellipse containing the Type designation can be seen above the paper label on the base cap.
The coating has been scraped off in lines as the top mica fingers were pushed into the top of the envelope. The anode is seen end on.
The classic envelope is 38 mm in diameter and, excluding the IO base pins, is 86 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet & 1040. Type L63 was first introduced in 1938. See also 1938 adverts.
